hello! yes i'm sorry i haven't been updating. Just that this weekend has been pretty crazy. Fun, but absolutely eventful.
On Friday, after half a day at school (terrible holiday. Wait, what holiday?), we started white washing the carnival banner! Gee...who knew that it would take such a long time? And why did the banner have to be 8 by 2 m?? Cheryl's fault....haha.. anyway, the time it took to dry was probably even longer than it took to paint it :# That was the beginning of the LONG nights out...
Saturday was crazier. After dragging myself out of bed, Cheri and I took the 1hr bus ride to Kembangan before trotting to church still half asleep. By the time we were there, Cheryl had already started drawing some of the stuff with chalk. And eew...she used pink to start everything off. Such bad taste...haha, but true :) Anyway, I slacked a bit for a while, then offered to take over so that she could have some breakfast (I hadn't had mine, but oh well, she would probably say she's more important...). As instructed, I drew the 3 wise men...haha...and they looked absolurely...er...WONDERFUL! except for the fact that if look at the middle one, you will realise that the camel doesn't look like one. It looks more like a giraffe! Aiya no choice lah, there was no space for the head except somewhere higher, so the head had to settle for a much longer neck :( But nevermind, it still turned out rather cute haha...
Anyway, throughout the day, people from different classes came to help us with the painting. Honestly, when Timothy Goh came, my first reaction was, uh oh...something's going to go wrong. True to his usual self, he made some exceptional mistakes! First of all, when he painted the head-piece of one of the shepherds (whom we nicknamed carrot-man because of his clothes), the painting was so off that it was practically the mane of a lion! (which Jon Cho innocently pointed out later on) But that aside, I would say that the painting went pretty well. No Yvonne, who would want to flirt with your Purple Man? I have better taste than that, thank you very much! :P I only outlined him, that's all. Couldn't bring myself to flirt with all the men you had flirted with earlier on, and especially the lamb! That was extremely disturbing, by the way...
And hmmm...Jon Cho, no offense but you were absolutely hilarious! haha...For the benefit of others, let me explain. He had a very important task: to paint the sky...but every two minutes, you would hear a groan from him because he had painted something wrongly. And he's the ONLY one who let the paint be used for the real purpose, but by accident. He actually painted the wall when he stood up. If that's not enough, please take a look at the mat outside the door at the back of the chapel: an absolute masterpiece by the extremely talented artist. He also almost painted the fan on the wall, by the way. :) ok enough...before I don't get to live through the weekend :P
That night, my dear sisters and I left church after 12, but it was definitely worth it! If you haven't seen the splendid banner, you must! Be prepared to be awed and gape at it :) And don't forget to spot all the mistakes. Person who spots the most wins! (Trust me! There are a lot of odd things there...)
Introducing...the banner for the Boxing Day Carnival 2004! Be sure to look out for 3 shepherds (one sleeping with his shepherd's pie, carrot man and his once-mane head piece--I managed to salvage it a bit, and the ever-flirtacious purple man with a huge nose--told you Yvonne has bad taste..haha), the 3 wisemen(look out for the giraffe-camel), the many sheep, the wonderful 2 official logos for the carnival itself, Bethlehem, the lovely night sky and all the colourful hills, and of course, the main advertisement details. Once you've seen it, please rate the banner upon 10 using the tagboard. :)
