Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trals of many kinds, because you now that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

*.* Orientation Week1 *.*

ok haven't bolgged in ages
feel kind of bad...
so I shall blog about my orientation! :P

Day 1: tue
Lots of talks, and a very "short" address by the principal. Boring thing was that most of the talks, well, the only applied to the mainstream ie. we already had the talks last year. However, after that, we met our OGs (orientation groups). Group 25 (my OG) had 27 people, and out of that, 19 were guys! (14 from HCI!) so the poor 8 girls in the group were like quite segregated... Didn't really know my OG very well even after the icebreakers, but they were ok lah.
At th end of the day, we learnt 3 mass dances, 2 involving couple dances.. Gee, I "LOVED" dancing with the guy. I mean, he as a person is fine. But me? Dancing with a guy? T-R-O-U-B-L-E!haha.. We also learnt the school song, some other songs and cheers. Yup, that's about it..

Day 2: wed
Probably the most boring day for the whole orientation. More talks and then a lot of the "qualifying tests" for the special programmes. Too lazy to go for any of them, so there was a lot of free time loitering about in the school. Bored...

Day 3: thu
less talks, more play :P Submitted our subject-combination forms. The spectacular staff said they could place us all into classes in 1 day! *clap clap* Anyway, This was also the second and the last day we would see our OGs. We played station games, Hexathlon (cos there were 6 stations) well, due to the bad weather, we only managed to play 4. Not bad lah, in 3 of the games, we managed to beat our opponent :) Got to know my OG a little better, though still couldn't recognise many. Oh well... Oh we had to do the couple dance again. Really anyhow do one. Gee...felt a little guilty...but I was really tired lah... After that, spent the last 45 minutes with my OG and OGL, Keng Fai. Hmm... maybe we'll all meet up some day again for lunch...

Day 4: Today
Early in the morning, the whole batch flocked to the notice boards to check out the results of the placings in classes. I'm in 06S74!!!! Meaning, I entered HCI in 2006, I'm in the Science faculty, 7 means I take Bio, and 4 is the class number :P We proceeded to the hal and got into our classes..Not bad lah.15 girls and 11 guys. Quite even :). Some classes have like 4 people of one gender and the rest comprising of the other gender..haha. hmm... 13/15 of the girls are from NY, 1 from RV and 1 from MGS. All the guys are from HCI...oh well..Almost an IP class. But we got along really well, somehow. We met our CT (civics tutor) Ms Angel Yang. Oh! She teaches BIO!!! Yay bio rocks...anyway, she told us the ruls and blah blah blah... She seems quite nice, but the sort that can also explode..haha..
Later, we crowded the Central Plaza and were shown our standing position for flag raising. Quite squeezy. Gee...
In the icebreaker games, we played the usual...whacko, the blacnket game, etc. haha... I have a male classmate that was also my promary 4/5/6 classmate, so if I needed to call a guy (save the girls!), it was quite easy..haha...
Oh..back to the hall again for more dances (today's was the most...er...expressive. Shake everything one..haha..) then more songs and then cheers. Oh if you watch campus superstar, the student from HCI in the top 20 is Chee Yang. He was forced to sing today...haha...first the song that we were taught (dang ni gu dan ni hui xiang qi shui) and then he sang the famous FIR song. He sounds so like the lead singer lor. Scary for a guy to go so high, since the first song mentioned was sung normally..haha. But he's got a nice voice lah. Got to give him credit for that.. Not that I'll swoon over him, though. Still not interested in guys, or girls, for that matter.
Ah, we also picked our mortals from our senior class. They are one bunch of wacky people. But, nice :) After the hall session, we officilly met up with our senior class and played MORE icebreaker games. There's only one bad thing. Most of the games have to do with guy-girl stuff. Apparently, that's the most "fascinating" part. So we played games like passing the pocky stick round the circle via the mouth, and obviously biting off the part that you grip. So as the stick gets shorter, well, it gets more and more worrying. I don't know why the short sticks always come my way! Ah! No choice lor. The forfeits were worse. Guy and girl-1 is the pole, the other the dancer- gross, I tell you. oh then we had to play this "elope" game. Sit alternate guy-girl as well. Everyone hold hands, then this "couple" will walk along hand in hand and tap one pair of hands. That "couple" must stand up (holding hands all the way)and run in the opposite direction. The "couple" that reaches the opening and sits down first can rest. The other pair taps another "couple"...and the game goes on. Well, a lot of the guys, in their excitement, caused the girls to fall or be injured. Sigh...good thing I was never tapped.

Well, on the whole, orientation has been pretty good. There's still a whole week of it next week, and many exciting stuff coming up. I'll try to update next week as well, esp after the campfire :P Now, the wisest thing to do: sleep :P

See ya!
