Sunday was just as wild...to me, at least :)
After 2nd service and doing PA for SSS, I had to skip Auntie Suit Chee's class to help dismantle the stage instruments and help get everything ready to bring to Neptune Theatre Restaurant. Poor Steph kept shooting me dirty looks. Hey! Sorry, but not much of a choice lah...haha...
Anyway, I wasn't extremely helpful all the time because didn't have as much strength as the guys. (No fair! Why are most guys stronger naturally?) But anyway, I helped as much as I could and after about 1hr, we had loaded all the stuff into the infamous Blue Van. Then it was lunch. Ate with Mark (Szto) and Steph. Hint: All the guys close to our age, you made her feel left out...tsk tsk. Oops! Have a feeling I'm going to be slaughtered...but who cares? haha...
Putting that aside, I arrived at Neptune in one piece, after hitching a ride with Samuel (thank you, by the way :P) The whole PA crew unloaded the stuff from the Blue Van and then slowly got everything upstairs...setting up all the equipment was much harder than I thought. Even without the gazillions of wires and cables, it was pretty stressful doing everything right simply because I've never done anything like this before. When they mentioned about a snake, I was pretty shocked. SNAKE??!! Okay fine, so maybe I didn't know it was an extremely long cable that allowed the mikes and all to be plugged in on one side, and then a connection to the sound board on the other end. But, to cut things short, we finally got everything set up 4 minutes before the programme was to commence. And that gave us a total of...3 minutes to eat dinner! Poor Harry and Harold. Think they had to leave the table after 2 mouthfuls of food...oh but the food was good :) It was slightly different from the menu of the other guests, but we had e-fu noodles, yang chao fried rice, brocolli and mushrooms, and a very nice kind of chicken. Yum! Fortunately, after a while, we got a chance to go back to the dinner table for a while to continue fortifying our constitution :)
Once the main programme started though, no time for slacking. It was time to work! I was in charge of backstage lah, so had to make sure everything was going right for the next performance or item. Mikes and everything...oh ya, by the way joel, if you see this sorry ah i think i really CMI (cannot make it)...I was so nervous that at that moment, I forgot how to plug the guitar into the DI...so embarassing! But I got it in in the end :) When the time came for all the couples to go up on stage to collect their little gift, dunno why they had to "hide" at the back. The poor photographers probably couldn't take a good photo, so when I was asked to ask them to move to the front, Harry just HAD TO add, "Use an authoritative voice". Aiya! So paiseh! Anyway, after many couples gave me that LOOK, they finally decided that my words were worth paying attention to, so they moved forward. And again came the walkie-talkie, "Very good, considering the fact that all their ages added up is probably a thousand years more than yours". Sigh....talk about total humiliation...but never mind
When the whole event was finally over, I was pretty exhausted, but definitely contented :) Never been in such a huge production...and it was great working with such fantastic people. Though I didn't know every single name, wanna thank all the people who were behind-the-scenes and especially God for making everything so wonderful. :)
That's the end of my extremely long blogging for now. Feel sorry for the people who actually read the whole thing...haha...God bless ! :P
